Landowner Attorney Philip Hundl provides an update on the DeLa Express pipeline, recently approved by FERC. It highlights the importance of attending stakeholder meetings to understand the project details, including construction timelines, property implications, and legal considerations related to eminent domain. Philip advises landowners to engage with condemnation-experienced attorneys to protect their interests and ensure fair compensation. Call 800-266-4870 or text 979-320-9320 to schedule a meeting with Philip. Our offices are in El Campo in Wharton County, but Philip works with landowners all over Texas. Meetings can be in person, online or by phone.
Summary of the DeLa Express Pipeline Update
Hi, Phil Hundl here with a quick pipeline update on the DeLa Express pipeline. This pipeline has just received FERC approval and is a subsidiary of Moss Lake Partners. It will start in West Texas and run all the way to Louisiana, taking a northerly route—a very common corridor used by multiple other pipelines.
The projected design is a 42-inch diameter pipeline. I want to discuss the pipeline company, DeLa Express, which is planning to hold open meetings or stakeholder meetings in the various counties for the landowners affected by this project. So, the question arises: should you attend?
You are not required to go, but I suggest and recommend that you do. Attend, listen, and try to learn as much as you can about this project. Key questions to ask include when they plan to start construction and when they expect it to be operational.
Ask what exactly they plan to do on your property. Will there only be a pipeline, or will there also be above-ground appurtenances? They are planning some valve stations and compressor stations, so you need to know if these installations are going to be on your property.
Maybe they know these details, or maybe they don’t at this point, but you should be asking these questions. With this information, you’ll be better informed and able to discuss with an attorney who handles eminent domain and condemnation proceedings. This will help you understand how to limit what they’re doing on your property and ensure you are fully compensated for the damage and the easement taken from you.
Additionally, you can consult with your attorney about the next steps. DeLa Express will be requesting survey access, and you can discuss limiting their access during surveys so that they don’t show up unexpectedly or cause significant disruption.
Hopefully, this update on the DeLa Express pipeline is helpful.
