Summary of the Trident Pipeline Update Video
Hi, Phil Hundl here with a quick pipeline update. This is on the Trident pipeline. It’s a Kinder Morgan project, also referred to by its segment name Slider. So you’ll see a couple of these different names. If you’re a landowner and are watching this, you’ve been contacted by right of way agents or some of the attorneys possibly, but right of way agents for the right of way acquisition company that’s being used on this project is TRC. I don’t want you to be confused by the different persons that you hear, the name Trident, you hear Kinder Morgan, and then you see someone from a company called TRC, that’s a right of way acquisition company that is hired by Kinder Morgan and the Trident Pipeline entity.
So, they are seeking access. They’ve been probably asking you for temporary access for surveying. And you may have already granted that verbally or signed their consent form. But with any type of access, it’s extremely important that you understand what you are agreeing to, what you are allowing them to do, and for how long. I always suggest that landowners, if they’re going to grant access, that it be as limited as possible for the very limited purpose of surveying the part of your property that they believe or are planning to or at least their proposed route on your property.
Now, at this point, the right of way agents seem to be getting more aggressive or more accelerated in their request for access. And what I mean by that is, they’re beginning to tell landowners that if they don’t grant them temporary access they will be going to the court and filing applications or getting law firms. And there are three particular law firms that will be handling or divvying up this project is my understanding, and they will be filing applications for temporary injunctions so that they can go on your property for surveying purposes.
So once again, as always, extremely important if you’re a landowner and you’ve been contacted, please contact an attorney, a law firm that handles these types of cases for landowners, and eminent domain/condemnation cases for landowners. Understand the process, understand your rights, and specifically right now, get some help with negotiating this temporary access for the surveyors and subcontractors and contractors for Trident pipeline in their accessing your property for surveying and other, civil engineering and other surveying purposes, whether it be archeological surveying or wetland surveying.
So once again know your rights, and understand the process. And with that, we will continue to keep you updated on the Trident pipeline.
