The Texas House Land and Resources Management Committee
has announced two hearings next week on the need for eminent domain reform.
Please make plans to attend and to testify if you’re a landowner who’s been affected by abusive eminent domain, and you’d like to see laws changed to better protect the rights of landowners.
Dallas Meeting
The House Committee on Land & Resource Management will meet at Dallas City Hall, Council Chambers, to hear invited and public testimony regarding the following charge.
- Examine Texas’ eminent domain statutes to ensure a balance between necessary infrastructure growth and fair compensation for landowners. Review available public information and data relating to the compensation provided to private property owners. Make recommendations to improve the accountability, as well as successful development, of the entities granted eminent domain authority.

Corpus Christi Meeting
The House Committee on Land & Resource Management will meet at the Congressman Soloman P. Ortiz International Center, Nueces Room, to hear invited and public testimony regarding the following interim charges:
- Review the General Land Office’s (GLO) role and efforts during the recovery period following Hurricane Harvey. Examine the state’s readiness and protocols in response to storm-related natural disasters. Provide an assessment of public lands and make recommendations on future and ongoing mitigation strategies regarding state assets.
- Examine Texas’ eminent domain statutes to ensure a balance between necessary infrastructure growth and fair compensation for landowners. Review available public information and data relating to the compensation provided to private property owners.
